We hope that you are well and that you are finding ways to cope with this highly unusual situation.
As you know, there will be no regular service March 29. Further, the board has made the decision to cancel our regular services through the end of April. That means, unfortunately, we will miss the following services that Jo-Ann worked so hard to put together: April 5-Howard Katz (American Humanist Association), April 12-Easter (rebirth discussion), April 19-Andreana Turano (Lawyers in the Classroom) and April 26-Ramaa Krishnan (Full Bloomed Lotus). We will be making decisions on May services as the situation evolves.
The LSUS Annual Meeting is being moved from April 19 to May 3. We will hold the meeting at 10:30 via Zoom or at noon after our regular service in Room 101 if that has resumed. You will receive materials two weeks in advance of May 3, as per LSUS bylaws, with instructions to link into Zoom if necessary. As has been possible in years past, you will be able to proxy vote in advance by mailing your ballot to Jo-Ann Jahant.
The good news is that, thanks to Priscilla and Gerry Long, we have been invited to join the weekly Zoom service of UU Society in Laconia, New Hampshire. UUSL (http://www.uusl.net/). Several board members “attended” their first Zoom service on-line this past Sunday. They are still ironing out a few kinks, but the service was uplifting in these troubled times. You will be getting a separate e-mail on how to link up via Zoom to their services. In the meantime, download the free Zoom app to your computer, tablet or phone so you are set to go this Sunday.
We hope our Weekly Update email will keep you connected to what we are doing and how we can all support each other through this.
Please stay safe and healthy
Peg Cartier, Chair, and the LSUS Board
