Defending the Rights of Both Detained and Non-Detained Immigrants Throughout Arizona

Jesse Evans-Schroeder, Tucson-based attorney committed to defending the rights of immigrants facing removal from the U.S., will speak on the topic, Defending the Rights of Both Detained and Non-Detained Immigrants Throughout Arizona. Ms. Evans-Schroeder will talk about her experiences in deportation defense, and securing noncitizen’s release from immigration detention. As an experienced asylum attorney, she will discuss her advocate work for those victims of domestic violence and other serious crimes who are eligible for certain immigration benefits. She will also include references to her experience practicing at the Board of Immigration Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, California, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
A graduate of the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, Ms. Evans-Schroeder gained experience in immigration law through work with the law college’s immigration clinic, as well as with the Asylum Project of Southern Arizona, the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project, and Southern Arizona Legal Aid’s immigration unit. Since that time she has been employed at the law firm Green Evans-Schroeder, where she supervises a team of immigrant defense litigators. She has successfully sued the U.S. government in a variety of immigration matters, on behalf of her clients. Ms. Evans-Schroeder is active in various humanitarian organizations committed to raising awareness about the impact of border and immigration policies on U.S. communities. She regularly provides trainings to attorneys and other advocates on immigration law.
