(Virtual Service) Empowering Clinicians to Hold Competent, Compassionate, Values-Based Conversations with Seriously Ill Patients
October 11, 2020 @ 10:15 AM – 11:30 AM

Kendra Mirasol, former LSUS member and current CEO of the Seattle nonprofit VitalTalk, will speak on the topic, Empowering Clinicians to Hold Competent, Compassionate, Values-Based Conversations with Seriously Ill Patients. COVID19 has heightened public awareness about challenges doctors face communicating with seriously ill patients. Clinicians are being thrown into some of the toughest discussions of their lives with patients and loved ones. Yet, repeated studies show that few doctors have been trained for these critical conversations. Kendra will pull from her own experiences as patient-advocate, and as leader of the nonprofit VitalTalk, to share how this organization is making an impact on the well-being of seriously ill patients and their families, as well as those who serve them.
Kendra was formerly President and Co-Owner of IOR Global Services, a global relocation company that eased transitions for employees and their families across cultures. Her previous experience includes serving as Financial Director of RR Donnelley and Sons and Marketing Manager at Siemens AG in Berlin. Kendra earned her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and BA in German Literature and Linguistics from the University of California, Irvine. She has been active in charitable ventures associated with promoting global intercultural competency and communication in a global context.
After services, from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM, we will open Zoom for informal general discussion, as well as an opportunity to join a conversation group with Kendra Mirasol.
