[Zoom Service] Love and the World’s Religions
January 8 @ 10:15 AM – 12:00 PM
Brian Carwana, Executive Director of the Encounter World Religions Centre, will speak on the topic of Love and the World’s Religions. Love, compassion, humaneness…these and similar words that ask us to focus on care for others are often located at the very heart of many of the world’s major religious and philosophical systems. In this talk, we will take a journey through many of the world’s major spiritual traditions to see what they have had to say about the topic of love and how they have nurtured it in everything from prayers to practices. As the concept of Love is the first word of our covenant that we repeat every week, this Sunday’s discourse will be very informing.
The Encounter World Religions Centre promotes religious literacy and fosters engagement with the people, places, practices and philosophies of religious traditions (especially via its immersive Discovery Week program, run every July). Brian has spent 20 years studying world religions, has his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, and blogs about his obsession with religions at his site ReligionsGeek.com.
