(Virtual Service) One Man’s Journey from Judaism to the Philosophy of Humanism
October 4, 2020 @ 10:15 AM – 11:30 AM

Howard Katz, Humanist Celebrant, President of the Center for Freethought Equality and Board Member of the American Humanist Society, will speak on the topic, One Man’s Journey from Judaism to the Philosophy of Humanism. Mr. Katz’s discussion will include the path he took away from a Jewish belief system to one based on science and rationalism as embodied in the Humanist movement. His talk will also include a brief summary of what the AHA and the CFE are currently involved with, as well as his efforts in recruiting local Congress people for the Freethought Caucus.
Howard Katz is a former officer of Illinois National Organization for Women (NOW), and board member of the Humanists of West Suburban Chicagoland. He has been active with the Americans Civil Liberties Union and was awarded the ACLU of Illinois’ Volunteer of the Year award. He has held multiple appointed public offices, and is the immediate former Township Clerk.
After services, from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM, we will open Zoom for informal general discussion, as well as an opportunity to join a conversation group with Howard Katz.
