[Virtual] The Denial and Hiding of Holocaust Histories in Honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day

Danny M. Cohen, Ph.D., Professor of Instruction at Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy and the Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies, will speak on the topic of The Denial and Hiding of Holocaust Histories in Honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day. In this interactive lecture in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we will discuss differences between outright Holocaust denial and the everyday distortion of Holocaust history. We will explore a brief history of Holocaust denial, we will ask what drives Holocaust denial, and we will consider strategies for confronting Holocaust denial and distortion in our communities.
Dr. Danny M. Cohen is an author, learning scientist, and musician. Hespecializes in Holocaust memory and Holocaust film, and the design of human rights education. Danny is the author of the choose-your-own-pathway mystery THE 19TH WINDOW, the short story DEAD ENDS, and the historical novel TRAIN, a selected Teacher Fellows text of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. He is the founder of the national nonprofit UNSILENCE, he was a faculty fellow of the Auschwitz Jewish Center, and he is also a member of the folk-rock band THEY WON’T WIN.
