The Newly Elected Congress: How Productive Will It Be?

March 26 @ 10:30 AM 12:00 PM

Julie Strauss, Ph.D., Lecturer in American Politics, will speak on the topic, The Newly Elected Congress: How Productive Will It Be?  The dust has settled after the midterms and the new members of Congress are seated.  What issues will this crop of members take up?  Will it pass major legislative reforms, or continue the partisan fights that have plagued our politics in recent years?  Join Julie Strauss, Ph.D., for this assessment of the newly minted Congress.

Julie Strauss has given talks in a variety of settings including Oakton Community College, various Jewish communities, North Shore Senior Center, retirement facilities, community groups and at several Road Scholar’s seminars at the Perlstein Resort in Wisconsin.  She received her Ph.D. in American Politics from Northwestern University.  Her dissertation examined the unique role that women members of Congress have had on public policy.  Prior to entering graduate school, she spent two years on Capitol Hill working for elected officials.
