Why Companies Want Your Data
April 10 @ 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Joel Shapiro, Ph.D., J.D., Clinical Associate Professor of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, will speak on the topic, Why Companies Want Your Data. Companies value information. And they want your data – who you, are what you like, what behaviors you engage in. Through computational sophistication, your data is being used to drive business results, from increased profit to social good and much in between. In this discourse, we’ll discuss some of the common ways that companies use your data, some of the ethical pitfalls and the role of machines in human decision-making.
